The holiday season is always busy, but it’s wonderful when people take the time to give back and to help others – that’s why HRG wants to take a moment to spotlight a charity that is meaningful to one of our own, Jaime Horne: Shannon’s Angels. “We are very proud of Jaime’s work as one of Shannon’s Angels!” says Lyle Hanna, who attended a recent charity event with his mother. “This an important cause and provides valuable support to women in need.“
Shannon’s Angels is a charity focused on supporting women with ovarian cancer. Shannon Morgan Lisk, the woman in whose honor the charity was founded, was devoted to helping those around her (especially during the holidays!), even while she herself struggled with the complications and difficulties of coping with ovarian cancer. The goal of Shannon’s Angels, then, is to continue her legacy of kindness and compassion, with a special focus on those women currently being treated at Markey Cancer Center.
To help accomplish their goals, Shannon’s Angels recently hosted a fundraising cocktail event where 100% of the proceeds went to benefit women with ovarian cancer. As a member of the event committee, Jaime expressed her excitement with how well the event was received and how they not only met but exceeded their fundraising expectations.
“We are proud to announce that we raised more than $8,000 this year with the help of family and friends who are passionate about providing support to women with ovarian cancer! The event was a true success, with over 100 people in attendance. Plus, after the event we are continuing to receive even more donations! We are certainly humbled by the incredible support and are excited to bring these women a bit of cheer during this holiday season.”
